Muir Woods Parking Information
Welcome to Muir Woods! We want to make sure your visit is as smooth as possible, so we’ve put together this guide to help you understand the parking system and why a guided tour might be a better option for your trip. If you choose to drive, please keep the following information in mind:
Parking Reservations
- Reservations must be made in advance and can only be purchased through the official Muir Woods parking website: https://gomuirwoods.com/muir/buy. Parking spots are not available for purchase on-site.
- Be sure to select the correct parking type based on your vehicle’s size to avoid complications at the entrance.

Parking Areas
Our parking areas are within walking distance of the Muir Woods entrance, and your reservation guarantees you a spot. When you arrive, a parking ambassador will direct you to the available areas. Note: There is no need for a separate shuttle reservation if you’ve reserved parking, as there is no shuttle from the parking areas to the park entrance.
However, keep in mind that parking is limited and often more expensive than joining one of our shuttle tours from San Francisco. When you book with us, you skip the hassle of parking and enjoy a guided experience that shows you more of what Muir Woods has to offer.

- Service Dogs Only: Only ADA-recognized service dogs are allowed in Muir Woods and on the shuttle. Other pets are not permitted.
- Leave No Trace: Please help preserve the beauty of Muir Woods by packing out any trash. Our parking and shuttle services are part of the Leave No Trace program, which helps protect natural lands for future visitors.
